Does anyone know anything about these engines. I have owned a lot of engines but never one of these. I'm putting the motor on a 25' boat that originally had twin 150's. The question that I really want to know along with how good the engine is, is how many gallons per mile this motor uses. I've heard they are gas hawgs, but how bad of a gas hawg????
Thanks Rusty

Good motors, anything J/E are good motors. Gas? Its still 300 HP, but you will have less weight and drag, so do the math. It aint no rowboat yer pushing. so you will still need to bring lots of money to the pump.

From my experience the two 140 engines will be just a little thirstier, and slower than the single 300 for cruising. The single 300 will use more for trolling as you would not normally use both engines when slow trolling. The biggest savings will be in maintenance with the 300 "Do the Math". Off course the come home factor for off shore use is a consideration for the twins. It all a matter of personnal preference really.
