correct oil/fuel ratio in 40 hp engine

Is is susposed to be 50:1 or 100:1 for a 40 hp engine
I always thought 50:1 but recently seen a 15 hp that said 100:1 your knowledge would be appreciated.

ya ive got a 115 hp with same question
my friends 20 hp he runs it al 100:1 never a problem
I run mine at 60:1 but still seems to heavy on oil

50:1 is the safest way to go .... I have a 15hp yamaha that is suppose to use 100:1 as it is stated on the fuel tank but I run it on 50:1 as I have the exact same engine but in an older model that uses 50:1 ..... so to be 100% sure run it on 50:1 ..... if you run it on too much oil it will just smoke alot, it won't harm the engine .....
