Re: Engine size question

That looks like fun to me.................8)8)

I agree the boat could handle more in all likelihood. It handles the 25hp very well. If I am by myself and I don't trim it correctly I bounce around like crazy, but if its trimmed right its smooth and really holds its line well in the water.

WOOHOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I found it :)

today I found, and subsequently brought home,
one 1959 Evinrude 35 hp Twin, with controls, cables, wiring harness, keyswitch & key, and even the evinrude ignition box with all cables.

And it RUNS !!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a BEAUTIFUL motor, and quite complimentary to the 1959 Alumacraft FDR
I'll post a couple pictures of it as soon as I get it cleaned up and bolted to the transom :p

John,

That is the best setup..... a match! That's quite a find to get a same year motor with that just right hp. A person could look a long long time and still not find a perfect match.

I do like looking at vintage boats with matching year motors. They are rare and it draws everyone's attention. Now I have to wait to see it.

I took the 1972 Johnson " 50ESL72C " out for a walk today.... I'm still shaking it down, and working out bugs here and there, but it's coming along nicely,,,,
Here's a picture that I took today.
( I'm driving my 1972 Starcraft 15' "Jetstream-V",
but this motor will inevitably find it's way to the back of the 1959 Alumacraft FDR at some point in time)
The starcraft is my " Test this Mill" boat <sly grin>
(PS>) my little kicker there is a 1960 3.6hp Elgin one lunger... She's Never let me down in the 30 years that I've owned it, and the 16 years my father owned it before that 8)
