Three questions. 1) I have never seen an outboard without a head and head gasket. Whats with this one? Is it one piece , head and block ? 2) Seems to be water in the cylinder when running. I thought bad head gasket but there is not one. How else might water get into the cylinder when running? ----3) I am ordering a new cylinder block cover gasket are there others I am unaware of which may allow water into the cylinders? Got me stumped. Appreciate your replies. Thanks.

Re: Headless ?1986 20 HP Mariner 0A73006 Water in cylinder

lot of that era and earlier mercs had one piece head/blocl, hence no seperate head.

the water can get in through a cracked block, crack in the exhaust side of the block, in the exhaust plate.

you should get a manual. best 30 bucks spent!
