I cannot seem to find where to attach the earmuff to flush the engine and/or test it out of the water. There is a small area on the lower right side that has small lovers but it does not seem to allow water in and out of the engine.

Can someone tell me excatly where I hook the earmuff.

Thanks

Jeffery,
There should be screened holes on either side of the lower unit. Attach there. However I may be wrong, as I have ever only owned one outboard.

it's easier with the small one to run in a barrel or large garbage can.

My '76 has a vent panel on both sids just above the cavitation wings/planes/whatever they're called. That's where the muffs go. Your '77 should have the same thing.

Your are probably right but I have the earmuffs and don't have a barrel or trash can the correct size. May have to go that way.

Thanks for reply

Well, gee. Closer inspection on the '76 reveals one side only too.

Who knew?

Anyway, you found 'em.

5 gallon pail works GREAT for these 6hp, I run my 78' 6hp rude' in one. about 3-4$ at a hardware/paint store.
