I have a 2002 Mercury 50 HP 3cyl- that Runs Rough at Mid and High RPM, sometimes will not turn more that 3200 RPM sometimes will turn 5200. Usually it gets worse after it has been run hard for 10 minutes or so. Shut down for a few minutes and it will usually run fine for another 10 mins.
Installed new plugs, removed and carbs carbs, replaced fuel filter, checked fuel line for leaks, pulled each plug lead off and seems to be making power on each cylinder, run compression test, 115 ~115 PSI. Cranks and idles good. Not overheating.
dont I It' think iit is the coils because each cylinder seems to be making power but I do think it is an electrical problem.
Also, this maybe totally unrelated or not but it has happened twice. I have tried Ipod use an Ipod FM modulation through to play thriugh the boat radio and both times as soon as the unit is plugged into the cigar lighter it had fried the unit. Voltmeter 135 dash 14 13.5 - 14 volts.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated before I start replacing parts.

I screwed up spell check on previous post.
Should read "removed and cleaned carbs"
"voltmeter on dash 13.5 - 14 volts"
