i have a couple of smale holes in my springbok boat. the big question is mig welding the holes would be the best way to go but would a marine 2 piece epoxy be ok? this is on the transom where there was a fishfinder and the screws that were used were too big as far as im concerned. i would like to seal and then apply the transducer with an expoxy adhesive.

Re: aluminum boat holes

Welding would be a problem for the wood under the ALU, cougar.

Seal with epoxy and epoxy the transducer in place.

sorry guys ,there is no wood at that patricular spot but i still agree about the epoxy. i have a 2 part marine epoxy that i will try today. i would think it should be ok as there is no flexing at that part of the boat.thanks for the input.

No wood there? Well, in that case I would propane braze the holes closed.

Check you local Hardware store for ALU brazing rod that can be used with a propane torch.

Re: aluminum boat holes

leave it alone, and give it a try, you can always do it later. (take a bailing bucket)
