Did anyone else watch the race!

<rant on>

What an $%^ Tony Stewart was!!

I was always a Dale Earnhardt fan. Would he spin you, yes. Would he swerve down on you and retaliate for racing hard but clean, NO. Would he then lay all the blame on the other guy, NO. (At least he had the cajones to smile slyly and say "That's racin'.")

NASCAR should have Red-flagged Tony and suspended him from next weeks race. IMHO.

Tup. Tony is a cheat, and a real pig on the track. He should be banned from competition before he kills somebody. He's a true menace to the sport!

Re: NASCAR

I got bored and fell asleep.

Something about that Pocono track that I don't care for.

The whole thing is getting to be like F1. The same 'ole, same 'ole teams... Hendrick or Rousch with a little Evernham or Gibbs thrown in for show.

Re: NASCAR

Hi Gary, hope your visit to WI was a good one.
I couldn't make it down to visit you, 140 miles each way didn't fit into the schedule.

What car did you bring?
Do you always drive for the same team/owner?

Had a chat with the Stacy Compton crew when they did a Johnsonville/Kingsford promo here last year.

Having never met Tony, I can't comment but to say there have always been drivers like him, just more media coverage now.

Stewart has always been a d***. Remember when he shoved that guy to the ground just for taking a picture of him. Pay me that much money to drive a car and you can take a picture of me eatin' a booger if you want.

Re: NASCAR

Hey, I like Tony. He races hard. He got black flagged for his actions (which he deserved) and drove back to 7th. Shaking his fist out the window would have been sufficient, he didn't need to be a jerk and push him also.

Edwards didn't need to do what he did either. Inspite of the aerodynamic damage to the 20, there was still enough to come back.

If it hadn't been for Tony, it would have been a really boring race!

Hey Gary, I ran into a couple guys that work for T Labonte.
Met them up in Upsala Ontario Canada last year.

Re: NASCAR

I like what Edwards did. Screw Tony!

Did anybody notice that Tony really never said anything about Edwards after the race (a small mention). He also took very little responsibility, if any. He should have been apologizing; big time. His selfish attitude cost somebody a good race with a good car. In the released version he took full responsibility. Personally, I don't care what is said after your publicist and boss sanitise it. What a flippin' jerk! He can drive, but Barry Bonds can hit too . . .

Bottom line is that Tony Stewart is a hypocrite. He says "those guys" are going to hurt someone by racing hard, then he maliciously drives down on guys causing wrecks.

Then he thinks he can talk about Dale Sr.

I love seeing Carl Edwards stand up to Stewart. Edwards cracks me up. Did you guys read his comments? Classic.

Yup. Perfect, spot on, agree 100%.

"Man, I've got to choose my words carefully," said Edwards, not easily angered. "Let me just say this: If it weren't for respect of the sport and the people watching and his team and everything, he'd be out there bleeding right now.

"That's so frustrating. How can a person make it this far in life being that much of a jerk?"

"He turned into Clint and took both him and I out and probably made it just about impossible for us to make the Chase," Edwards said. "And then when I pull up beside him and wave my hand like, 'What was that about?' he gives me the finger.

"I mean, what a jerk. I don't even know what to say. It's amazing to me that someone can be that special."

I love that!!

Re: NASCAR

The "Chase" will do that to ya!
When drivers are on the verge of missing the chase, they will get much more aggressive than normal. Look at J Gordon a couple of weeks ago. Actually, I like it because it brings back the fire of NA$CAR of old! IMO, NA$CAR was getting too PC to suit me.

I'm with you CD!! Both previous "Races to the Chase" and the following Chases have been very intense. I like it a lot. Homestead mattered in both cases as did Richmond for the last spot in. Works very well if you ask me.

Re: NASCAR

QC, so you like the hard racing, just not when Stewart does it?

For the record, I root for Tony, not so much because of him, but I am more a fan of GM, and have followed Gibbs racing closely since they were running Pontiacs. Wish Pontiac was still sponsoring. I was a Petty fan back in the day when the King was running in a Pontiac. And Bobby LaBonte was the man when he was driving a Pontiac. Followed him when Gibbs went Chevy. Now that B. LaBonte is driving for some other manufacturer ( 8) ) I could care less.
