I've got an old fishing boat i may sell. I;d like to rob it's trolling motor and put it on a runabout walk through windsheil type boat. Anyone ever done this?

As long as you can bolt it down and run the proper power to it, it shouldn't be any problem. Is the shaft long enough?

Generally the runabout will not have a flat area to mount the motor on. You'll need to shim it so the shaft is vertical when deployed. As was mentioned, make sure the shaft is long enough before you do this.

Yeah I was looking at it and it isn't really flat up there. How would you shim it? Maybe I should just get the carbs reworked on the fisher? As far as power what would be best for the troller?

Since I can't see your boat and have no idea how big it is, I don't have a clue how much thrust you need or how long the shaft needs to be. As for shimming, you can stack up rubber washers, metal washers, shape a block of wood or make a shim using fiberglass. It all depends on how nice you want it to look when done.

I opted for the engine mount minn kota, it also means you don't need to run 20' of power leads from the rear battery either. As most bow riders don't have room for a battery up front. Keep that in mind.
