i got a whale fin with e new boat but it wasnt installed. i went ahead and installed it with the smooth black side down. i have pics if anyone could tell me if i did it right it would be great.

We are really not advocates of the fin (I am not) but with that said. If it has groves .... they face down not the smooth side. They will cut back on overall top speed and are not as wonderful as advertised.

Trim tabs work much better w/o bad side effects.

yea i got tabs also, but i need to get new rams for them.

Fix the tabs and pitch the fin. It's on upside down anyway.

I have seen some with "ribs" on the top.

Maybe you should post a pic, if you can. It's worth a thousand words...
