hello I am new to boating as well as this website. I bought gas at the marina shortly after my engine will not break 2500 rpms in drive Idling in nuteral I can tack it up to 3900 or higher but in drive 2500 and won't stand up on plane. I also ran a ground in soft mud I wondered if that had anything to do with it . I was also driving it when it was at 2500 and broke through and hit 3700 3900 was nice I slowed to turn and went right back to the 2500 no higher. Help do you think there is water in my gas and what would i do then... dry gas ?

Did you happen to forget to put oil in the gas you got at the marina? just a thought. when u hit ground did you tilt your motor to check if you cracked the lower end? or broke your prop? is the boat out of the water now? you could have possibly bent your prop shaft. is there a unusual vibration? if its not get the boat out of the water and put muffs on it and start it up and put it in gear and see if it turns good. then we can go from there.

Marina gas sure sounds suspicious. Try draining some fuel from carb bowls and let set in a glass for an hour If there is significant water you will see a meniscus layering. Check fuel filter as well for free flow. Have you tried pumping the bulb to see if it corrects? As far as grounding in the mud, just be sure engine is circulating water and not geting hot.
Let us know what you find.

It sounds like a fuel problem to me. run that fuel out and then try a new tank doubble check your mixture with the mfg. sug. mixture and doubble check your measurements.
