The engine has no spark but it getting fuel. So from what i've read it could be the startor. What else should I check and how can i check if the startor is bad?

Thanks

Hello Tim.

Please start out by telling us what engine you have.
Make, model, hp, age, etc.

The stator generates electricity.
Then there is the trigger, switchbox, and coils, before reaching the sparkplug.

So it could be several things.

So, please give us the engine info so that we are all talking about the same parts.

Trouble shooting these ignition systems is easy to do, but requires a test meter, and its good to have a repair manual like the Clymer Force repair manual. You can buy one or borrow one from the library if you live near a big city.

On your motor there is a stator which generates electrical current.
Current is sent to the CD module.
There is a trigger, which tells the cd module when to "fire" or send the current to the coils.
And there are 2 coils.

Do you have a test meter or a repair manual to use?

To test the stator, disconnect the blue and yellow wires from the engine, connect them to your test meter, set meter to 400DVA.

Crank the engine, watch the meter, if you have 300 volts or more, the stator is good.
