How about 10 amps for a SWAG. That's a reasonable number and should power a lot of things.

If you really want to run some whoopie, do this.

Get a 12v starting solenoid, or other 12v relay. Hook the high power stuff to the high power contacts.

Hook the low power coil energizing circuit to your accessory switch. Walla. You can run what you want.

I also think 10 A is a reasonable answer. If you need more than that, you can tap into the Power trim/tilt switch. It should have a greater capacity.

Power tilt switch uses only a signal wire to trip a relay. Do not use it to draw large current.

Roscoe, The PTT switch on my Merc has very heavy duty wiring, since it is a one solenoid unit. The supply and trim down wire are AWG 8 or 10. The trim up wire is lighter (14??), since it only needs to run the up solenoid. All are still higher capacity than the iginition switch.

Without knowing the Mfg, it is a guess. But 10-15 amps is normal. So like every one else says, 10 should be safe.

Years back the factory said that only gauges shouild be attached to the accessory wire. When pressed for an exact answer, it was 5 amps max.
