Does ne one know of any good resources containing detailed instructions for the replacement of an impeller on my 1992 Yamaha Pro 50?
I'm trying to avoid buying the yamaha manual...
The motor runs but does not **** any water out of the tell-tale... MuChO Blue smoke as well.

After about 3 mins of idle, the warning buzzzer on my control box sounds!:%

The only detailed instructions you will get are from the service manual for your engine. Its a four step process. 1) Drop lower unit. 2) disassemble pump, 3) install new impeller and reassemble pump, 4) install lower unit. Now each of those steps has 6 or 8 sub-steps which is why you need the manual. Visit your local library. They may not have one for your exact motor but they will have one that will give you an idea what's required.

Re: Impeller Installation?

Hey thanx silvertip, But I also forgot to mention that my lower unit has a pretty good size crack in it patched up by some bondo from previous owner... Is it bad if water gets into the actual unit? I didn't think it would matter as there are vents located there anyway!
THanx again for any help

Those very likely are not vents. That's the water intake ports for the pump. And yes, it does matter if water gets into the lower unit. There are bearings and gears in there that need lubrication. Water and gear lub makes a chocolate mixture that does not lubricate very well. For proper repair the lower unit should be disassembled and welded by a fabrication shop where the welders know what they are doing.

I have intake ports about 6 inches below the other vents. I used "earmuffs" on the lower Itake ports. Are both sets supposed to be underwater?
