I have a 1998 bayliner with a 7.4 EFI Merc.
The boat ran fine last season.
This season on my second run I cruised with no problem (3100). I passed a tug at 4100 backed off the throttle and a little later I tried to open it up again. This time my rpm's dropped to about 3500witth the throttle still WO.
Over the next few weeks, I checked my water seperator and replaced it. No water when I emptied it into a jar. I replaced the anti syphon valve at my tank.
Still the same problem. First time out of the slip, I can run WOT. After that time I cannot same problem as listed above. Next I replaced my fuel pump. Guess what, still have the same problem. I can still cruise at 3100 with no problem but i cannnot push it much beyond that.
I did have a computer on it at the slip and there were no sensors tripped.
When I am cruising, oil pressure, temp and rpms are normal. Any help would be appreciated. Sorry for the long story.

Re: Lose of power at WOT

Have you checked your fuel tank vent? I had a mudbobber nest in mine and had to clean it out. I could run WOT for a little while, but eventually would start losing power as I was trying to get more gas than the tank could give me. Ran fine at lower RPM's G-luck!
