Re: 1997 75 Force Outboard

I have a 1997 75 Force outboard Engine Runs at normal to higher speeds great when the gas gets below or half full tank it won't stay idle without pumping the primer ball. I installed a new fuel pump new hoses with clamps even went between the fuel tank and the quick connector where I resealed that to. It seem like a pressure problem I tried another portable tank with the same results connecting it directly to the gas tanks. Where if any could this air loose be if that’s the problem ran a decarb threw the system too.

Welcome to iboats dabutcher.

Now for the harsh stuff.

How did it run when you test drove it before you bought it?

Sorry, had to ask.

Do you know how long it sat since it was last used?
Did you have the drive unit in a tank of water when you ran it?
Or on "water muffs" ?
Or was there no water at all when you started it on the trailer?

Several things come to mind.
1- one of the sparkplugs is not firing
2- one of the cylinders has low compression
3- carburetors are gummed up and running lean
4- fuel pump is going bad
5- vent on gas tank is plugged

At this point, we need to eliminate some of the possibilities.

You need to check to see if all the sparkplugs are firing.
And examine the plugs to see if they all look the same.

Then check the cylinders for compression. Post the compression readings here.

Ask here if you are unsure of how to do any of these things.

And please don't type in all caps, it makes it very difficult to read.
