I have a 1988 Four Winns 23.5 ft. with a 5.7 L I/O. The Power Trim Cylinders are leaking fluid. My mechanic needs the engine model number but the sticker has long been gone that was stuck to the engine. I have no idea, and neither does he, what the model number would be on such an old engine. I need to get parts to rebuild or replace the power trim cylinders that is leaking the power trim fluid. Any ideas

A is first model relesed and B is second model released. your 5th # is for steering M is for machanical and P is for power. your 6th# is prop rotation R is right hand and L is for left hand. your 7th # is your year of motor 1988 is eather MED or MEF. You just fig your carb your steering your prop rotation and you said it was a 1988 so just use MED . That sould get you some Parts Hope8) Dodge

d:) Dodge, thanks so much. I will give it a whirl. Do you know any place or anybody where I can find a kit to replace seals and or entire power trim cylinders? Thanks,Jeff

Dodge....MED and MEF are 1989 model #'s GDE and GDP are 1988 not that it makes much difference in this case.

Jeff...look at this link item 64 is the trim/tilt ram and 65 is the seal kit, not sure why you mechanic really needs the model number as 1987 to 1989 use the same parts.

If both cylinders are leaking it is probably corrosion, and time to get new ones.

Also if your mechanic is hesitant to ID what you have, maybe try another shop. Not too many changes back in the late 80's Cobra's.
