60HP Mercury Outboard Serial Number - Year?

I can't find the year associated with Serial # 0C169039. Can anyone assist?

Would parts from that year be compatible with a 60HP 1986 outboard?

Looks like an 1989. A 1986 would start with 0A197392. You could go to mercurypartsexpress.com and use these serial numbers to check if the part numbers are the same.

Hey guys, I don't know about maxrules.com but my 60hp Merc 3 cyl is a 1988 and the sn# is OA108969 which begins before the sn# listed above as a 1986. You may want to check another source for more accurate sn#'s designation by year/model. I used boatfix.com to double check my numbers. Also, they have parts not available here, though I bought most of my parts here.

Andy, I just realized that you are from Canada. The maxrules.com list differant serial numbers for Canadian models, but none match. Also mercurypartsexpress does not accept that number as well.

So my info appears to be wrong.

Thanks guys! You were sharp to pick up my location, but in fact it's a US motor and I do suspect it's a 1989 (though the owner claims it's a late 70's).

Do any of you know if the '86 and '89 60 HP Mercs were from the same "family" of motors (i.e. same block)?
