Re: The U.S. Postal Service has got to be kidding

"Are you refering to me?"

No, I was referring to Firestar's desire to kill all the middle easterners or syrians or iraqis or whoever it is that he's referring to this time. I'm just saying it's sounds like a creed that OBL would be proud of. "Kill all the evil americans and let allah sort them out" was probably more or less the creed behind the 911 attacks.

"This "nuke" thing.. Iz this Something you thunk-up on yer own, rat?"

No, this is something that firestar and custombycrunch have been proposing all through this thread.

"I did not know that...hmmm.... The adhesive somehow makes a difference? Maybe all is normal, the post office is innept as always, and the adhesive saves the taliban... Ok, rat. Whatever. Have fun."

I've been following your curious conspiracy thing about the stamps with great interest, 12, trying to figure out just what the heck you were going on about. I finally figured out that you were suggesting that the post office had planted tiny tracking devices (or poison capsules of some kind?) in the stamps to track and/or eliminate those who might use the stamp. Is that right? Anyway, I was just pointing out that with self adhesive stamps, it would be hard for the heathens to ingest the device. Then you'd be left having to track the letter, which may just be someone's VISA payment or something useless like that. So I think that maybe you should get a hold of the Post office and set them straight on this plan of yours, if you want it to work.

That's all. Carry on.

All you feel good ultra liberals need to get a clue.

One doesn't need to be a feel-good ultra-liberal to think that using nukes in the middle east to "win" the war is a dumb idea.

Your "nuke them and get it over with" is capitulation and an admission of defeat just like the "pull the troops out now" is. Both would cause even greater trouble in the world. You talk like that's a solution, but really it is just a simplistic feel-good proposal that would not end terrorism but would more likely hasten the deployment of a nuke in one of our own cities.

You want a proposal from the "lib" side? OK. Start by clearing the decks of all incompetent leadership. No more Rummy, right off the bat. Put decent, fair minded military people in charge of the military operation. Adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards torture, murder and abuse of civilians and prisoners. Boot out any contractors found to be scamming the system, and make sure that reconstruction contracts are fulfilled at a reasonable cost in a timely fashion. Bump the numbers of troops up enough to keep things under control while rebuilding what needs rebuilt, and put some of these to serious focused effort to clear out the obvious and hardcore insurgents. No more driving around aimlessly waiting to get shot at or blown up and then chasing down the nearest male who looks nervous. Above all, adopt a clear set of reasonably achievable goals, that can get done in a reasonable time frame, do them and then leave. Reasonable goals would not include "kill all the terrorists". The way things are set up now, there is no goal except to stay there.

The two most important things in my mind are clearing out the incompetent leadership and corrupt contractors (the "bad actors" as Rummy likes to say), and setting realistic goals that do not lead towards endless unwinnable religious wars.

I had a client on a tour today who was in the military for 30 years, all the way through Viet Nam, and spent months in Iraq in 2004 working for the CPA. Not exactly a sofite liberal, and he said that there was absolutely no plan for what do do after the war, and all the lessons that the army had learned from previous wars about how to fight an insurgency were completely ignored, and that the whole thing over there was a morass of incompetent wandering and corrpution. Now I'm afraid that can't be blamed on PC liberals, since none of them have had a hand in running this war. Why not make the solution include using the lessons that the military has already learned?

I have no idea of this would work, or if it is already too late to salvage any American credibility out of this mess. I know we can't just walk away, but I sure don't want to see the same incompetents and zealots that got us into this mess left in charge of getting us out of it. They don't WANT it to end.

I'll shut up now. I've had my say and you got your proposal from me. I'm sure it won't be good enough, but hey, I think yours is daft too.

So Japan was winning the war when we used nukes on them? And I don't recall from my history class. But is the world in a worse place because we did that?

I am not a nuke the whole middle east war monger, but why not use a few on selected targets if it warrants it?

Japan was losing the war, but had vowed to fight to the last man, woman, and child. It is estimated that the use of the two nukes saved millions of lives.

I never said that we are going to or need to. I said if it warrants it.
What cojuld warrant it? A NBC attack (nuclear, boilogical and chemical) attack on our home soil or used on our troops.

Where you came up with "frustrated & "feel" like it " is beyond me, unless that is how you are feeling.

Ifis a mighty big word.....
The use of a nuclear device by the US would be a big mistake if it were used on any country that did not declare war on us first......JK

History seems to refute that contention.

So let's say IF a terrorist group uses a biological weapon in LA and 100,000 people die and IF we know they are based in Syira, according to your logic, we can not use a tactical nuke to take them out because Syira hasn't declared war.
And to continue that theory, no matter who atacked, we couldn't and shoudn't nuke them?

And what any of this have to do with a stamp?

Well if we knew for sure they had WMD's ( like Iraq did ;) )
(Sarcasm)
No, we should not nuke them.....
We could do plenty of damage to infrastructure without detonating a nuclear device.....
I don't know of any country named "Muslim", btw.....
& you are correct this has nothing to do with stamps....JK

They don't have them anymore, they used them, (we learned that from the microchip on the stamp) 100,000 dead. No doubt about it (just like there is no doubt UBL was behind 9/11) So we turn off their lights and phones? Get real.
And as for you remark, "Well if we knew for sure they had WMD's ( like Iraq did )" get over it. The intel from many country's (Russia, Egypt, Isreal) said he did. It was wrong. To late now.

And W won in 2000, fair and square, so get over that as well. Some people never do, well it's time or do we bring up Whitewater and Monica. But if we do that you libs will have another hissy fit.

LIbs need to "Build a bridge and get over it."

I don't know, I much prefer twelve perforations per side as opposed to ten.... I find it much more esthetically pleasing.

Re: The U.S. Postal Service has got to be kidding

Hey we have them ( nukes) of all sizes. If they had them and you do not believe they would use them.......well be an ostrich and stick your head in the sand. You'll get bit in the azz. I don't think that we need to wait ...for what ....a first strike? Let them hit us first so the PC can feel good...justified? They have been hitting us and the rest of the world with everything they have for a long, long............long long time. Not one American life is worth losing anymore. Hit them hard. Make the survivors that care clean their losers out. If they don't...hit them again. Fact, Iran teaches their children to hate Americans. For over a quarter of a century yet! Taught to kill us from the time they are born. What the hell is that about? They missed the 20th century. To bad. Bad leaders. If they can't catch up and fast....well...... Maybe there are some of you that feel they haven't hurt us enough, haven't hit you in your back yard..in your face... I don't feel we should wait for that to happen...it already has.................AND IT WILL AGAIN! As the sun shines. PC has no place in war. This thread HAS EVOLVED! It's not just about a stamp. The people, societies, countries that are the root of this problem need to evolve too. If they don't.............well extinction is the only answer. NO MORE PC. Get the job done. I am for hitting anyone that harbors, condones, supports terrorists to be annihilated. They will understand that. That is all they will understand. Talking is useless. History shows us that. With that 900 year old mentality they have anyway.

What a combination, 900 year old mentality and the "nuke em now" mentality. It's hard to see a difference between the two, in my opinion.

Sounds to me like there is much frustration over the poorly handled war and because of it, you want to use nuclear bombs. Good answer.

It's unbelievable, that many of you blaim this on being PC. I thought you were all proud of W and his ability to "stay the course." You are now all realizing this to be a huge mess. A mess many on this board have been stating for a long ,long while now. I cannot believe some of you think it takes the strongest country in the world to use a nuke on terrorist in Iraq. You know, that small country in the middle east that we were led into with both feet without thought. You remember, the night of the "shock and aw."

This worthless administration screwed this up from day one and they continue today. You are all now realizing it, just pointing the finger in the wrong direction. As someone said above, keep your head in the sand and.....

Woodrat made some sense and you all dismissed it. Let the military handle the strategizing and let rummy play green army man war in the back yard sand box.

Re: The U.S. Postal Service has got to be kidding

I think the frustration is caused by people that think there is a PEACEFUL end to this. You have to be young which equates to not totally informed. The media feeds into PC. There is a generation that only knows PC. Read history about the region, the people, the type of society they live in. The values,, their very being,, is totally different then what we live.
