Is there any I/O combo that you can run out of water dry for a little bit? I took a tour of a boat manufacturer that has crates of Mercruiser and Volvo engines and drives for their boats. In final assembly they would fire them up for about a minute to make sure they run. No muffs, no water....... I always thought on any I/O you need to run wet in order not to burn up the impleller.. Am I right?

it's the assembly lube they use, once it's pumping water the water cleans the lube out then a restart would be with a dry pump and heat the impeller and damage it
