Edited from another author but reflects my sentiments:
"This will be the extent of my gloating in public.
The Dems should be humble enough to realize, though, that their "win" is somewhat empty and reflects Republican failure, not Democrat success. Also I hope that the Dems are humble enough to realize that some of the Dems that won campaigned with a platform conservative enough to be solid Republican.
I hope that the result here is really a move towards the pragmatic center, not a move towards the far left. Also I hope that we can now open up a non-partisan debate and discussion about how to solve the real problems facing our country. We all know what these problems are. By "non-partisan", I mean we judge an idea based on the idea itself rather than how it fits some sort of ideology.
I hope we don't waste time with impeachment hearings, or go on a witch hunt. Yes- there needs to be oversight to fix some, let's just say, dealings that may have gone beyond what any reasonable person would think is ethical. But let us not focus on impeachment. It will waste precious energy, and worse, set up a precedent where any time one party controls congress and another party controls the WH, the Pres faces impeachment for the slightest wrong move. Our country does not need that. Yes, Bush deserves to be impeached (and more) but America does not deserve the distractions impeachment would give.
As a final note, some pro-Democratic people on this forum are using rather harsh words for Republicans. It's a free country, and you can gloat like that in public if you wish, but I find it distasteful. The Republicans feel just like you did in 2000, 2002, and 2004. The Republicans gloated, for sure, but I don't recall them telling Democrats to kill themselves. Sure, this is "Dockside", but don't say anything you wouldn't say to someone in person.
Let's move forward. And in as sincere a manner as a I would say- I submit:
GOD BLESS AMERICA!"
