Subject: A letter from a marine

I could not find anything in snopes about this as a yet. But,, I agree with
the letter no matter who wrote it.

This is a very well written letter i found from a Marine wife written by her
husband... the end the Sincerely part got to me the most!!! God Bless our
troops !

****************************************************
{This was written by my husband, Aaron, who is currently deployed to Iraq, in
defense of a recent comment made by Senator John Kerry. Pass it along, it
might inspire someone else to speak up! ~ Michelle}

Yesterday John Kerry said, "You know education, if you make the most of it,
you study hard, you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you
can do well, and if you don't, you get stuck in Iraq"

So I wrote him a letter:

I am a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. I am currently on my
second tour in Iraq, a tour in which I volunteered for. I speak Arabic and
Spanish and I plan to tackle Persian Farsi soon. I have a Bachelors and an
Associates Degree and between deployments I am pursuing an M.B.A. In college
I was a member of several academic honor societies, including the Golden Key
Honor Society. I am not unique among the enlisted troops. Many of my enlisted
colleagues include lawyers, teachers, mechanics, engineers, musicians and
artists just to name a few. You say that your comments were directed towards
the President and not us. If we were stupid Senator Kerry, we might have
believed you.

I am not a victim of President Bush. I proudly serve him because he is my
Commander and Chief. If it was you who was President, I would serve you just
as faithfully. I serve America Senator Kerry, and I am also providing a
service to the good people of Iraq. I have not terrorized them in the middle
of the night, raped them or murdered them as you have accused me of before. I
am doing my part to help them rebuild. My role is a simple one, but
important. You see Senator Kerry, like it or not, we came here and removed a
tyrant (who terrorized Iraqis in the middle of the night, and raped them and
murdered them). And we have a responsibility to see to it that another one
doesn't take his place. The people of Iraq are recovering from an abusive
relationship with a terrible government and it's going to take some time to
help them recover from that. We can't treat this conflict like a microwave
dinner and throw a temper tantrum because we feel like it's taking too long.

Senator Kerry, you don't have to agree with this war. You don't have to say
nice things about those of us who choose to make sacrifices for the rights of
every American rather than sit back and simply feel entitled to it. But
please Senator Kerry, if you're going to call me a stupid murdering rapist,
stick by what you say. Don't tell me that I misunderstood or that you would
never insult a veteran because you're one too. Having been there and done
that does not give you a free pass to insult me.

My suggestion for you, Senator Kerry, is to remember that your speeches are
recorded, and broadcast to us simpletons over here. You may want to write
down what you want to say before you say it, maybe have somebody look at it
before you say it and tell you what others might hear. Remember that we can't
read your mind, if there are any misinterpretations in what you say, it's
because you didn't communicate clearly.

Good luck to you Senator Kerry, if nothing else it's always entertaining to
watch you try and climb out of the holes that you constantly dig for
yourself.

Sincerely,
Somebody who is watching his daughter grow up in photographs so that you can have the right to say whatever you want about him.

Not exactly. Kennedy served in the army from '51-'53, but unlike Kerry, doesn't tout his war service. Wonder why that is since '51-'53 coincides with the Korean conflict? But at least he didn't blow up his own butt like Kerry and Max Cleland. Yeeeeh!

EricKems,
"I didn't know teddy could stand up on his own..hicup..hicup.."

Teddy-boy may have trouble standing on his own but he sure as hell can't swim.

txsweiner,
Another ridiculous reply.

Boomya,
Exactly right; no balls and no foresight.

from me:

Without doubt, a terrific letter; well written and done with true moral fiber.
We, as Americans, must dis-associate the Military from the politicians and support the troops, regardless. To do less is simply un-American.

John Kerry is the undisputed king of situational opinions. He appears to sense where he is, what the immediate audience wants to hear; then he dials up those "fitting" comments with the righteous indignation he is famous for showing.

Another day, another town, he denies his prior statements and delivers that days comments....

Whatta' guy!

Re: A Marines letter to Kerry

As long as were posting letters to the CIC might as well post Pat Tillmans brothers letter too.

It is Pat’s birthday on November 6, and elections are the day after. It gets me thinking about a conversation I had with Pat before we joined the military. He spoke about the risks with signing the papers. How once we committed, we were at the mercy of the American leadership and the American people. How we could be thrown in a direction not of our volition. How fighting as a soldier would leave us without a voice… until we got out.

Somehow we were sent to invade a nation because it was a direct threat to the American people, or to the world, or harbored terrorists, or was involved in the September 11 attacks, or received weapons-grade uranium from Niger, or had mobile weapons labs, or WMD, or had a need to be liberated, or we needed to establish a democracy, or stop an insurgency, or stop a civil war we created that can’t be called a civil war even though it is. Something like that.

Someow our elected leaders were subverting international law and humanity by setting up secret prisons around the world, secretly kidnapping people, secretly holding them indefinitely, secretly not charging them with anything, secretly torturing them. Somehow that overt policy of torture became the fault of a few “bad apples” in the military.

Somehow back at home, support for the soldiers meant having a five-year-old kindergartener scribble a picture with crayons and send it overseas, or slapping stickers on cars, or lobbying Congress for an extra pad in a helmet. It’s interesting that a soldier on his third or fourth tour should care about a drawing from a five-year-old; or a faded sticker on a car as his friends die around him; or an extra pad in a helmet, as if it will protect him when an IED throws his vehicle 50 feet into the air as his body comes apart and his skin melts to the seat.
Somehow the more soldiers that die, the more legitimate the illegal invasion becomes.

Somehow American leadership, whose only credit is lying to its people and illegally invading a nation, has been allowed to steal the courage, virtue and honor of its soldiers on the ground.

Somehow those afraid to fight an illegal invasion decades ago are allowed to send soldiers to die for an illegal invasion they started.

Somehow faking character, virtue and strength is tolerated.

Somehow profiting from tragedy and horror is tolerated.

Somehow the death of tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of people is tolerated.

Somehow subversion of the Bill of Rights and The Constitution is tolerated.

Somehow suspension of Habeas Corpus is supposed to keep this country safe.

Somehow torture is tolerated.

Somehow lying is tolerated.

Somehow reason is being discarded for faith, dogma, and nonsense.

Somehow American leadership managed to create a more dangerous world.

Somehow a narrative is more important than reality.

Somehow America has become a country that projects everything that it is not and condemns everything that it is.

Somehow the most reasonable, trusted and respected country in the world has become one of the most irrational, belligerent, feared, and distrusted countries in the world.

Somehow being politically informed, diligent, and skeptical has been replaced by apathy through active ignorance.

Somehow the same incompetent, narcissistic, virtueless, vacuous, malicious criminals are still in charge of this country.

Somehow this is tolerated.
Somehow nobody is accountable for this.

In a democracy, the policy of the leaders is the policy of the people. So don’t be shocked when our grandkids bury much of this generation as traitors to the nation, to the world and to humanity. Most likely, they will come to know that “somehow” was nurtured by fear, insecurity and indifference, leaving the country vulnerable to unchecked, unchallenged parasites.
Luckily this country is still a democracy. People still have a voice. People still can take action. It can start after Pat’s birthday.

Pat's letter is full of misinformation. He is bitter and hurt and it is strongly reflected in his letter.

It is a dishonor to write such letters using other people's names to lend credence to them.

I swear I heard the Democrats saying how they were for the war in Afganistan. Which is where Pat Tillman served.

Great letter, the problem is those it needs to impact, live in a pitcher of Kool-aid.
