I ran across this service the other day and it looks pretty interesting to me. I don't have cable and hate having to run to the video store. For a $50 investment, its worth a shot (with promo code PR49B).

Anybody have this service??

crapola!
MY FAULT! Not iboats!
I hit the wrong key and lost a hour of typing!
"most of the hour was checking facts"
And typing them...
This doesn't count another hour searching the site.
Bottom line:
Check out Netflix (SP)
15 dollars a month
Doesn't matter how many movies you sign up for.
Everytime you send one back, theysend the next one on the list.
No late fees..
Would not work for us.
We spend less than $10.00 a year on rented videos..

I actually have netflix and for how we watch stuff it doesn't work very well. We are more spontaneous watchers and we end up running to BB anyway. The netflix movies sit there for a while cause we don't watch them. Weird I know.. I bought one and we'll see how it goes. I am assuming this will save me from running to BB.

From the information I have readm they will be expanding the concept with some of the other interfaces the devices carries. It has an Ethernet port for broadband connectiion. This may allow you to custoimize you selection.

I realize the value of renting movies, especially current ones, and hope I am not too far off topic.

There a many movies worth owning out there.I've bought many at Amazon ,and even Newegg.Maybe because they are older the price is better.I never pay over $10.00 for a movie, and my last order at Newegg was $66.00 for 10.Tastes vary, but my order included .....

well you'll have to look as I recently got two different orders.

Recent orders did include Emperor of the North,Monteray Folk Festival,Woodstock and more.Hate to tip my age,but Snows of Kilamanjaro was under $4.00.and I have it forever

Netflix has engaged in deceptive advertising. I don’t know where they are now with the lawsuits against them. In a nutshell, they advertise that you can watch all of the movies you want for a monthly fee. In reality, they limit the number of movies you can watch by holding back the next movie for 1 or 2 or 3 days before sending it to you. If you are signed up for 3 movies at a time you will not be able to watch more than about 12 movies a month.

Also with Netflix the more movies you watch the further down you go on their computerized list of priority customers. To you new releases will be held with a “long wait” where causal Netflix customers get a “short wait” and trial members get the movies with “no wait” (hoping they will sign up for the service).

We go to Hollywood video, pay $25/mo to have 3 movies out at a time. Same as Netflix except we transport the movies to/from any Hollywood video store. We can keep the movie(s) as long as we want, no fees or fines. Costs a few bucks more than Netflix but we can see what movie we want when we want without playing the “wait” game.

Edit: forgot to mention, if anyone is interested in foreign movies, independent films, and/or documentaries, Greencine is your DVD rental source for those. Greencine has over 80,000 of those type of movies. www.greencine.com
