After pumping the bulb as normal the boat will start right up. The engine has no problem running while underway, however, when I turn off the motor to fish and drift for 5 minutes or more, the engine will not start up again until
I reapeatly pump the bulb.

This can get quite tricky around bridges and fast moving currents.

Anyone have a clue what might be causes this? It is not the gas as I have filled up more than once.

I should mention the fuel bulb primer has been replaced.

Air leak at one of your connections? Faulty primer bulb?

Did you have this problem before you replaced the bulb?

My bulb was collapsed but engine still running. New bulb installed, running sweet now.

Here is a neat little info dump I found on primer bulbs.

Luv, I do not think it is the primer bulb. Also, since you only stop for 5 minutes, your carbs should still be full of fuel. I suspect it would start with a bit of choke, instead of pumping the bulb. This points to your idle mixture or other carb issue.

check valve in the primer bulb, failing, allowing the gas in the hose to siphon off the carbs.

I would "hope" that you replaced the primer bulb with an "OEM" rather than off the shelf at Wal-Mart or the likes?
