Man oh man. You guys are real thrill seekers. Do you have overrev limiters on your engines?

Great pics. Is one of those boats fixing to beach? If so, what does the engine do just kick up and you immediately kill it, or it has a kick up kill switch like some engines had/have?

Thanks for thinking of me(us) by showing us your fun.

Re: Practicing boating pics for TexasMark

Ok let me explain, obviously we work on time (similar to the "amazing race" on tv) so you ride it WOT up on the beach to get to the finish line on the beach the fastest, (so funny, obviously you have been sitting the whole day, so when the co-pilot jumps out and he can't find his legs he falls face down in the sand) the motor just kicks up and then you just pull the kill switch as you beach, we can't really have those switches that kills the motor when it kicks up, cause sometime when you hit something in the water and the engine kicks up you have to be able to still carry on, if the engine dies, you have to start the thing again ..... these boats take long to plane out, because of the speed props and high mounted motor, you have to open and close the throttle about 3 times to get it going and it might cost you the title .... anyway .... then it is just WOT all the way ...... I know from the pics it looks like the prop is mostly out the water than in the water, but they are action pics only, when you make a jump the prop is only out for a couple of seconds ....... we don't have rev limiters on, in fact all governors and limiters are taken off to run at higher rpm ...... when jumping the waves, you have to just time it well to close the throttle when in the air and then open it up again when hitting the water, if you keep the motor wot when in the air and then when hitting the water the motor will just cavitate or flip the boat over depending on the wind (similar like a quad bike when you do a jump and keep the throttle open, it pushes it right on the back wheels and can over rotate ......) .... so it can be tricky at times, that is why practising in the waves is the best exercise you can do ..... it is loads of fun ... I think I must move to the US and start the sport there, i'm sure there will be a couple of takers?

Thanks for the explanation. Very nice. You will probably be overwhelmed here if the sport doesn't already exist.

I can just bet you that you got a lot of people thinking about it just since you posted your first picture. Race in the USA? Why not!

Thanks,

Mark

DJC, the environmentalists would probably squawk that you are harming the sea plankton!8)

Amazing pics! Saw a couple of boats down. Do you haul them right out and tear the engines down?
Do they ever hydraulic when they go down?

Re: Practicing boating pics for TexasMark

Well our motors basicly does the same damage as any normal 2-stroke, but I know it is very strict there in the USA ....... when the boat flips over you have about 3 minutes to turn it back to carry on racing, the engine is sealed right around and only have the top part for air intake, so when the boat flips it will create a "bubble" and the engine will be dry inside the engine cover for a limited time, the boat was designed to be able to flip back over very quickly to carry on as it is very very light ..... we just climb on top of the upside down boat stand at the back, take the front rope and pull it over again, as it is a wet deck the water runs right out the back, we don't have a fuel tank, we use, looks like a big plastic bag that straps down at the back ...... anyway ... and the engine will start right up and off you go again ... no worries .... :)

Is the schock of slamming around in those as large as slamming into a big wave on a larger heavier boat?

From here it look's like tubing has evolved into a pure Kamakazie art form.......

PS. If you really want, I am sure you can import one of these boats for cheap, it is an inflatable so they can fold it up and ship it, it is light so shipping is cheap .......
