I have recently bought a 1976 Wards SeaKing 6 motor. The serial # of the motor is 1481
The Model# C0C6506A76
Western Auto Supply Co. Kansas City, MO.

I would like an operators manual as the markings on the control handle are mostly worn off. Is it possible to find this?

Re: Wards Sea King 6

Not sure I understand where Montgomery Ward and Western Auto got mixed up together but the motor was
built by Chrysler. An owners manual will be pretty hard to find. A service manual may be somewhat helpful with basic operation.
As far as the markings on the handle they are pretty much reference points. Most motors will not advance any farther than a fast idle start position in neutral. Most handles are marked slow ,shift, start, fast.Once you get it running the markings will become obvious.
Check that it doesn't advance all the way to fast in neutral then set it about half way to fast to start it.
You can set it to the max if the neutral position seems to be working.Just be aware you may need to lower the speed quickly when it starts. As far as the proper shift position the key is to always shift at the lowest speed possible.Shift crisply neither jamming it into gear nor dragging it in.
Generic service manuals are probably available right here at iboats. These are really important to help you maintain and repair your motor.
You could try Fairwinds Marina the Chrysler Crew
for help and maybe an owners manual. Also watch ebay
all kinds of manuals etc pop up there regularly.
