I have no reading on my fuel gauge, regardless of ignition on/off. I rewired all the contacts (internal and external) on the sender unit (external were corroded and at least one of the internals was broken off), but still nothing. There is ~9V across the two posts on top of the sending unit. I have black and white wires running from the unit, and 1 post is "S" and the other says "-". Which color should be on which post? Should I replace the sending unit? Other advice? Thanks...

Remember where the sender is and don't fool around with it. If it does not work, replace it and follow the new sender manufacturer's instructions as carefully as possible.

Welcome to iboats wahoo and a very HAPPY NEW YEAR
!

Ya' should really post this over in the electrical/electronis forum.....but is it were me, I'd pull the sending unit, hook an ohm meter, at low ohms, across the output and rock the float arm back up and down and see what the ohms do. If they don't do nothing, sender unit is kaput. If the sending unit has been there a while, most likely the rheostat wires are worn through.

Hope this helped some....d:)

PS....I'll move this over to the electric/electronics forum for ya'.

Thanks, OBJ. I will give the ohmmeter a whirl tomorrow. As far as I know, the sender has been on there since the '90s (I bought the boat in '01).

Let us know what ya' find. Weird things do crop up from time to time and we like to know about them. Can help some one else down the road.

Thanks!
