I have a 1999 Evinrude 15hp 2 stroke short shaft...I very much like this particular motor but need it to be a long shaft...Anyone got a lead on where I might get the parts? Thanks,Mark.

Hi Mark and welcome aboard!

You can get the whole kit from a local J/Rude dealership for about $300.

Or being cheap like the rest of us.....d:)....search up TwinCity Outboard or ishopmarine....you could maybe get the parts there cheaper. And don't forget eBay. The kits are on there from time to time. Even ask your local dealership if they have a used kit or parts laying around.

Might also think about a service manual also. Will help and pay for itself in the long run. Reprints can be had through Ken Cook Co., they have a site also.

Re: Long Shaft Conversion. 15HP Evinrude

I found a guy willing to sell me a '94 15hp rude. LS w/ electric start..Blown power head. Tiller, like mine. $200. My question is, am I better off switching power heads or should I do the lower end switch to end up with a long shaft motor? Any advice appreciated.Mark.

Just switch lower units. No need to mess with swapping power heads.

Mark, post your model number if you would please.
