I am attempting to repair the reverse lock on my sons 85HP 1987 Force Outboard before I return home on Monday. I have to replace a broken Nylon REVERSE LOCK ARM... and I have all of the parts to do the job..PROBLEM.. now that I have removed the spring pin that held the broken nylon reverse lock arm on the shaft, HOW DO I REMOVE THE SHAFT FROM THE TILT ASSY. How is it held in place? Any help on this problem would be greatly appreciated so I can fix this problem before I head back across the U.S....

Are you referring to #41 in the photo?

Not sure, can't find it in any manuals, and never worked on one of that model.

Its not held in with a spring pin, is it?

It may require removing one of the transom mounting brackets, which would require that the motor be supported from above (hoist or winch).

Hopefully someone will be along with more specific instructions for you.

I am trying to install part number 56 on part number 61. The lever to operate the reverse lock is on the front of the tilt mechanism and goes from front to rear of the mount.
