I have noticed in a few other forums that I frequent that they have a section on Dealers and Parts suppliers. This would be a good section to have here on this forum as I have no Idea who the good VP dealers and mechanics here in the Seattle area are. I know who not to go to unless I feel like getting totally ripped off, Lakeside Boat tech is an outfit I would never go to again based my my experience there but it would be good to get a section that talked about good and bad experiences with these folks, they cant all be bad. I see occasional posts about various outfits but a section would be great to reference for folks who are just trying to find an honest mechanic.

I don't know if Iboats would like listing other parts suppliers being they sell alot of parts from this website.
That would be a good question for one of the Mods..

I was thinking more of a section on local service and repair shops and who is honest and who rips you off, not focused on parts but on labor rates and reputation ect..

Problem is there might be a hundred very satisfied customers that go merrily on their way boating and enjoying themselves and never give a thought to posting that on the web. But get one guy that lost 2mph after a tune-up and he's posting it on every website that will take it. And of course there are those that will flame the competition posing as a disgruntled customer.

i agree with Willy, and iboats will never let it happen, they won't even let us give stuff away on the forum. sorry but it's a pipe dream. i can't blame iboats, they're here to sell parts. and i do appreciate the sponsorship of the forum.

You need look no further than down the page of this forum for proof of that! (the ebasic thread) This holds true for all consumer products on the web. Just check the consumer product reviews next time you are shopping on-line. You'll have ten that rave about an item, then up pops one who has a totally different view. You never know who to believe.
