Re: suzuki o2 140 fuel in oil

Many 4 strokes have had a problem with "making oil". Usual causes are running too cool and incomplete break-in.

Go to the Engine FAQs and read about 4 strokes "making oil".

The DF140 is a small displacement, high rpm engine for a 140hp. That's how they made it so light (410#). It weighs less than most 115hp 4 strokes. Some folks who are used to big displacement engines with more low speed torque don't get the "grunt" that they expect when installed on a big, heavy boat.

Good luck. :)

One contributing factor to many cases is incorrect propping of motor/boat. Make SURE that the pitch of prop isn't too high and motor is spinning up to upper end of suggested RPM for Wide Open Throttle. Would guess real close to 6000 for that engine, I'm not a zuki tech. Also if boat is heavy for engine you should UNDER pitch the prop a little, since if you are into throttle heavy and engine can't spin up it will be washing a lot of UNBURNED fuel thru to crankcase...

first of all, loosen mechanic fuel pump on engine, and then squeze the primer bulb, (dont loosen hoses to pump) if any fuel leaks u have a broken pump membrane, thats the most common problem we had with the df140 when filling oiltray with fuel.
