I recently installed a rebuilt powerhead on my 1973 115Hp Johnson. To do the installation, I had to remove all of the ignition, fuel, and electrical components. I have just about everything back together at this point and have been reading in my Clymer & SELOC manuals about how to sync the linkages.
Is this a difficult process? Before I ever start the engine, how can I tell if they are set appropriately? When the remote lever is pushed forward, the lower unit should go into gear and the throttle should increase. I can see how this process works by messing around with it, but how do I know when the settings are right so that I do not damage the lower unit or keep the motor from reaching full throttle?
