I have a 1998 120hp force and my prop was stolen. What size of prop do I need? The boat is a 1998 nitro 700lx 17ft? I am looking at buying another stainless prop.

It is difficult to recommend a prop by email; There are so many variables
Do you want blazing hole shots? Do you want maximum top speed? What is the load you are carrying: Multiple batteries, multiple livewells ,number of people etc> all these influence the correct prop.
That said, you want to prop the engine so that at full throttle the engine runs at or close to manufacturers stated speed.
That said, a 120 on a 17 foot boat is probably going to take a 19 or 21 pitch prop. (Diameter is set and usually is about 12 3/4 in to 13 in.) Performance will vary with hull design, prop manufacturer and prop design. If you can get a loaner to test from your dealer that would be great.
I personally would start out with a 19 pitch aluminum prop to use as an extra for emergencies and see where to go from there. Another option is to buy one of those replacable blade props. You can change various pitch blades on the hub for less than buying a new prop.
For your main prop Stainless is an excellent choice because they usually run about 200 RPM faster than aluminum. However, if you habitually boat in rocky or stump infested water, a composite may be what you want. The blades break away, protecting the lower unit somewhat.

Three blades gets you better top speed, but you may get chinewalk. Four blades gives you better holeshot and much less chinewalk. Four-blades also run a bit slower, but you can usually compensate by hanging the motor higher on the transom which reduces drag from the gearcase.

My buddy have the exact same boat/motor only it's a year older. He got 3 batteries and normally have one person in the boat with the occasional 2 persons. He's looking for a ss prop and not sure what to look for. I think he's looking for optimum hole shot and speed. His boat currently running at 5200 rpm with gps reading of 48.7 mph @wot on an 21 pitch aluminum. Got a pretty decent hole shot.
