Hi folks, I have an old revere/wollensak 808 slide projector, 50's era, that is missing the heat absorbing glass lens in the optical system. (my fault, I was replacing the drive belt on the darn thing and accidently dropped the lens on the floor.) I tried ebay, lots of kodak but no revere 808's. any you folks got any ideas where i might come up with one?

Re: vintage slide projector

Tough One FB.....sorry that I can't offer much more than sympathy.

I own a camera store and see old projectors all the time; but something that "old and obscure" is something more in the realm of the thrift-stores/garage sale market.

Don't feel too bad; Heat Absorbing Glass gets very brittle as it ages (absorbing all that heat; I guess...) and they sometimes will fracture all by themselves...breaking into thousands of little chunks. Yours might have just been at "it's time to go"...

Is it really that unusual a size/shape that another brand couldn;t be made to fit? Can you give me dimensions ...thickness and diameter? I'll look around.

I guess you realize that you sure can't use the projector without it...the slides will melt in seconds.

I'll watch for your reply with size...and I'll keep my eyes open as I wander the thrift stores around here.

Re: vintage slide projector

hehe....Hiya Coors...

Movie projectors are available. We rent them and sell them (used ones)

No camera store near where you live?

I wouldn't worry too much about hi-jacking this thread.....not too many of us iboaters are gonna be talking about Revere Slide Projectors and 8mm movies...I think there's enough room in this thread for all of us... :)

yep my bad o:) I have a kim jong ill complex... chuck, that piece of glass is oops, was 2 and 1/4 inches in diameter and about a 1/4 inch thick with a slight green cast to it.......no special grind to it just flat but I would guess it was tempered the way it shattered...coors, lots of 8mm projectors on ebay...

Re: vintage slide projector

I have a few old wollensaks that I keep for parts - really hectic around here right now, but will try to get some time to head to the attic and see if I might have what you need ... no promises, and no time frames ...
