Hey guys, I am planning on buying a single new bearing from a bearing shop near me but i need the spec number off the bearing race itself. I can not get mine out of the case before i bring it to get serviced, and i want to have a new bearing ready. Anyway, the bearing is the one at the innermost end of the upper gearcase ball-gear shaft. The OMC part number is 375761 and the aftermarket number is 21547. If anybody has this race sitting around, would you please give me the number off of it? Thanks guys. Kyle.

I can't help you with the number, wish I could. But to do that I'd have to go into the parts room and open #375761 and post the number for you to go elsewhere to purchase. Not much percentage in that.Maybe I could make it up in quantity, though.

By the way,the WHOLE bearing price is $36.29.Plus tax. From BRP.

Yep,always happy to make a profit ! Too many times us small guys don't,and it takes it's toll. These days if Internet Sales don't get us the Mega Dealer does.

This site has PLENTY of advice, but call a Mega Dealer, and try to talk to a mechanic.

I'll give lots of advice as well as I can.Just wanted to point out that dealers need attention as well.

If I had the part on the shelf,I might have given Kyle the number, and he could have saved $20.00 by going to the Bearing store, and buying just the race.I think he'd be better off buying a matched set.

But I didn't have the bearing, and wanted to make my point.

Hope I have.

I always buy stuff from my local Evinrude/Johnson dealer, they are great and keep my Cobra shifting like new. Only go to West Marine for stuff I can't get elsewhere, otherwise go to a a couple of local marine supply shops for non mechanical stuff.

thanks Lou C.

I 'm just trying to say support the local guy in your communityI. I know for big buck items you have to shop around. And the big stores can't be beat.and I go there too.

But the guy down the street will help you find the right belt for the blower on your furnace, the local mechanic will tell you your check engine light is on because you lost your gas cap, your appliance man will tell you the washer doesn't rinse because the motor is stuck in the track. When these guys are gone ...... what will we do ?

Laddies maybe right,I could be having a bad day, week or what ever.....

I think what got me going was trying to save a buck on a $30 bearing.

I wish I had a BRP dealer near me that was worth dealing with. They are not very smart up here. If I don't have a part number, the 70 year old partslady (mother of the mechanic) cannot help me. When they sold me a faulty bilge pump float switch, they refused to let me return it the next day because "there is no warranty on electronic parts". I tried to explain what the issue with it was and she walked away and helped another customer.
I have not bought a part locally since. Thank god for the internet!!! I get most parts for less than half of what those idiots were charging me.
