I have to run Shifter cables from the lower helm to the upper helm. And then adjust them. I have the correct lengths and I can see maybe joining the old one to the new one and pulling them through, so the new replaces the old. Any tips out there? Thanks!!

That's the way I usually do them. Or at least try. If that doesn't work, you may have to take things apart till you find what is preventing them from pulling thru.
When you tape the new cables to a new cable, try to make it as tapered as possible so it will go thru any holes without jamming.
Every boat is different, even of the same kind and sometimes the builders like to put cable ties or tape to the wiring harness when they pull the original bundle thru. In this case it can be almost impossible and very time consuming to replace the cables.
