Dunno until you get her apart, (which could be a challenge if it's been in salt). Buy a manual, drop the lower unit, (per instructions in the manual), the water pump is at the base of the drive shaft once you get the LU off. Unbolt and look her over then get a parts kit West Marine has 'em as do many places. The water pump is similar to most Merc inlines 1968- the 80s! JR

Stump hanger- Most often all you need to replace is the impeller and gasket for the upper WP housing. Sierra will have these parts at your NAPA store or go to a merc dealer. The whole kit (Well they used to anyway) includes a new SS impeller cup, plate, impeller, gaskets and new impeller key. They are very expensive and there is generally no need for all that. Unless your cup and plate are severly damaged, just throw a new impeller in there. Grease up the cup before assembly and as for the gasket, if you go EASY with the silicone you can use it. (Remember, you're sealing water from water with that gasket). Remember to reinstall the slinger at the top of your pump housing. Check or replace (at a minimum grease up) your drive shaft O ring at the top of the DS before reassembly.
