Good evening all, this morning I went down to my favourite boating store and bought 5 lt. of salt away so that I could flush out the motor a few times and then keep it clean. I had not started the motor for about three months and decided today was the day, So what i did was, was to get the motor running and warmed up before I used the SALT AWAY,after the motor had warmed up sufficiently I then started the flushing process using the inline dispenser after about the fourth flush the temp. warning came on.,( beeper ) the motor had recently been serviced and tested using a water tank as a water supply, all the waterways are clear and a new impellor was fitted to the water pump.so at first I panicked but later realized that the water cooling muff cannot supply enough water to the motor and that is why the temperature went up after about ten minutes of running, the type of cooling muff I have has only one inlet on the one sideof the waterintake the water and saltaway flow through the motor seemed okay as water/ salt away mixture was exiting from all the outlets that it should have, so the question I ask is how safe is it to use these muffs, and I suppose only for a limited time on large motors, what else can I use barring building a water tank out of a 210 lt drum.???
Kind regards William Wright.
