Alpha 1 gen 2 reseal

Hi All: Have a question in this exploded view of a alpha 1 gen 2 outdrive, item 31 is a sleeve that seems to slide into the water cooling tube coupling. What purpose does this sleeve serve? Mine was not even pressed into coupler when I split the drive. I am trying to figure out what purpose it serve as I cannot figure it out.

Also, item 34, (sleeve), it shows in the exploded view to be above the seal. There is nothing above my shaft oil seal (36). Is this possible?

Item 31 is nothing but an Alignment aid, to help you get the water tube in-place....

Can't help you with Item 34....

The sleeve connects the pump to the water intake tube above it.

Lots of exploded views in that link, what page are you actually looking at?

I think what you need instead of the tech manual which only give specs, is the actual service manual. Here is a link to it.
