I'm thinking about getting a 91' Seaswirl with a OMC 4.3 liter. Are these good boats?

I like the SeaSwirl. But that OMC is a bit of a deal killer unless they are giving it away. OMC's both Cobras and Stringers are no longer made. That one looks in nice shape for the age. I don't go for those goofy new swoopy things they make today. You just want to make sure the floor is good, the motor is good, the outdrive is good and not pay too much for it all.

If the drive is in good running condition and you service and adjust cables the correct way it should last you a long time.Ebay and some other sites are good sources for parts. I Have the Cobra drive with the 4.3 and have found any part i needed so far.
A word of advice,Get the real factory OMC service manual.A guy named Searayman13 on ebay has them.
You won't regret paying the 50 or 60 bucks for it.The Seloc and Clymers manuals don't do the job.

Nice looking boat! Welcome aboard!

Hi,

I've got a '96 SeaSwirl with the V/P 4.3L with the Cobra/SX outdrive. The engine/outdrive package is different than yours, but the boat seems to be very well built.

Mine is the 201 Bowrider, and the 4.3L will take up to about 40 mph with 4 on board. I'm not sure if my 4.3L is the 160 or 190 HP model. It may be the 190 because it appears to have the Vortec heads.

Nice solid, well thought out boat. Built here in the NW, so that was a plus for me. Bought mine used just last year. I know a bunch of others with similar SeaSwirls, all are happy.

Helped do some maintaince on a buddys '91 Reinell, with a OMC like the one in the picture. With the factory manual and a website (Hastings something) it was a pretty easy job and I had no trouble buying parts for it online. But, from what I understand, if the shifting is not prefect when you are test driving it (no grinding or rattles allowed), run away. Its an easy thing to adjust for, but if it isn't right, a lot of expensive pieces are being chewed up.

Later,

johnbo
