If you think you have a restriction there, disconnect the oil line and hook up an anti siphon valve or hand vacuum pump and see if oil is flowing. The newer VROs have a low and no oil alarm but I am not sure that your model has this functionality. What symptoms are you having with the engine?

Re: 1989 150hp vro question

hi there
it is the old three wire pump The engine will shut down after start up if you pump the oil primer bulb it will start up again then shut down when the pressure is go off the primer bulb. I just took the pick-up out of the ol tank and the foam filter was partly over the pick-up tube don't know if this would cause it or not
thanks

Re: 1989 150hp vro question

don't know about the alarm I took the controls apart and the alarm was melted on one side . I'll have to get a new one before i run the engine again. Have to find out what caused it to melt.Tried the test light on the wires on the engine ,they seem to be alright when grounding the wires
thanks
