sportsjet 90 lack of power..help??

Hi there,I have bought a 96 regal rush with a 90 mercury sportsjet in it,and it just wouldnt pull the skin off a rice pudding! after taking this boat back to the boatyard where I got it from(where they pulled it down,put in new rings etc),when I got it back, it actually seems even more gutless than before,the engine seems to run fine but just wont rev,have checked i have full throttle new fuel,no blockage in inlet,also has a red stator fitted to it.this boat wont even get up to the plane,really really gutless! was going to take back to boatyard,but i have a mechanical background(have rebuilt lots of 4 stroke engines but not 2 stroke),and thinking they dont have a clue,any help would be greatly apreciated!

if they represented it as a working running engine, take it back.

yep,already took it back and they admitted they needed to take it to someone else.trouble here in south australia is if you buy a secondhand car from a yard you get a warranty,but no warranty when you buy a secondhand boat from a boat yard,so hoping they pay the bill
