If all you're going to do is 30 minute rides I'd say get a canoe. It'll hardly be worth the maintenance of an engine ;)

Seriously, I'd be thinking about a nice aluminum jon boat with a decent size OB...

Re: Looking for a 1st boat!!!!!!!!!

there are many good bow riders and deck boats on the market now. the deck boats throw a bigger wake than the bow riders. we have a 1999 Chris craft Deck boat, rated for 13 people 5.7 L volvo outdrive, will run out at about 45 mph.

Sea-Pro
Glastron

Many others, but these are the boats I have owned or have been on that I would highly recommend based on my observation.

Some key questions:

Salt or fresh?
Avg. number of people on board?
big water or small lake/river?
Price range?
Water Depth a concern?

Re: Looking for a 1st boat!!!!!!!!!

I have a 1986 Four Winns Santara 215 for sale w/ trailor. Since we bought a new boat it has been for sale since mid last season. It is 22' 9" LOA w/ a 8' 6" beam, new engine 2 years ago, new full camper canvas 3 years ago, and penlty of other good feature. I would be happy to send you pictures and give you a price over email or the phone. Let me know.

We had used the boat for 1 season on a fresh water lake and then moved to the Chesapeake Bay where it was used for the last 4 seasons. It was a great starter boat, until the family started growing. Once it was me, the wife, one child, and rottie we needed more space and upgraded to 30' foot. It is a great boat for new boaters and small families. Great for over nights on the hook and water skiing as well.

Send me an email.
