I have a 1983 Bayliner with a rotten transom. Is it worth repairing? How do you repair it? It has a 85hp Chryslers force motor that runs very well.

Re: Transom Replacement

I would say offhand that if you were inclined (and able) to do the repair yourself, it might be worth doing, if the rest of the boat is in good shape. If you have to pay someone to do it, it could get expensive. I've never done this type of work, but I would post your question in the Boat Restoration & Repair section. Someone there is working on a similar repair - there are some folks who I'm sure could explain what's involved.

Use the search and check this section.

It's worth it.

Re: Transom Replacement

Post some pix. Easier to comment. If your hull was in good condition I think it would be worthwhile. Unfortunately your Chrysler/Force outboard is one major breakdown away from the scrap pile.

Good luck and have a great day

Rob.
