how much oil does the sterndrive hold?

I want to change the oil in the sterndrive.I assume i just remove the plug in the lower unit then fill it back thru the plug/dipstick at the top? This is a 1991 mercruiser sterndrive

Is that an Alpha I, Alpha I Gen II, or a Bravo I, II, or III outdrive?

Nope,......

You Drain it thru the Bottom Plug,+ Pump the fresh Oil Up thru the Same Bottom Plug........
Filling it from the Top,..... It's Almost Guaranteed to cause Catastrophic Failure......As there'll No Doubt be an Air Pocket in it......

Your drive takes Just Over a Quart......
