mercruiser tilt/trim pump

I have a 140 mercruiser cheeta i/o that bleeds off rapidly. No leaks around cylinders so think it's in the pump. Any info on how to repair or find a repair manual on the pump would be appreciated. Thanks

Parts for the old square tank Prestolite pump are not available. Make sure the manual release knob is turned all the way Counterclockwise. Your problem is just as likely to be internal to the rams, leaking from the up side to the down side.

What year is your 140?

It'a a 1986 Cherokee 174. Thanks for the reply I've been gone so just got back and checked board. Chester
