We just aquired a 1989 Seamaster 2280 cs. 21 foot. 200 HP Merc.
Does anyone have one that could tell us what the holds in the deck are for.
Looks like ice keepers to put the fish in after catching them. The rod lockers are obvious.
Also, anything to watch out for.
Seems in pretty good shape. The wood will need replaces soon.

We are thinking of added a 15 hp for a kicker. Is that big enough??

Thanks for any feed back,

I also posted in the Renker Forum.

If you could post some pictures of the holds you are talking about it would be helpful in identifying the purpose of each compartment. You may have livewells and baitwells.

What kind of wood are you talking about? If it is teak, then you could very well just need a good cleaning. Post some photos.

Your 15 HP kicker should be more than adequate.

Thanks for the replys.

I will try to get some pics over the weekend, and probably try to figure out what they are at the same time.

I think the boat weighs about 2400 lbs dry weight. It has a 200 Merc, I thnk 1989. Will this use the 10 percent rule, IE 20 Gal per hr?

Bass boats are my experience up 'till now.

At wide open throttle you can expect fuel consumption to be about 20 gallons per hour and about 14 gallons per hour if you throttle back to a comfortable cruise. Actual flow rate will depend on total load and speed.
