Ok I've got an empty container that I have no idea what should be in it. It has an "ADD" line but I cant seem to identify it. THought it might be one of the trim pumps?

The other trim pump has fluid in it. From the INSIDE of the boat looking at the STERN this container is on the left. The trim pump pic is on the RIGHT side of the boat.

1988 Mercruiser 454 7.4L with Bravo I drive.

First 3 pics are empty container. Last pic is trim pump on the other side of boat.

Thanks for any help!

Sweet! Thanks. Yes it still has the trim tabs. What fluid can go in there? The same as for the Tilt/Trim pump?

Should be the same. ATF or hydraulic fluid.

Yeah, looks like Bennett's too by the thru hull setup. Get yourself a REALLY small funnel, trust me on this one ;)

Now I'm intrigued....I assumed there was a cap on this as I haven't looked at it closely (had my wife snap those pics this morning and send them to me).

Where do you fill the container? :)

You have to remove the plastic cover on the top of the unit. It's held on by 1 phillips head screw located in the top center. Be cautious when reinstalling the cover and don't overtighten the screw, it will break the cover. Once you have the cover off you will see the fill hole in the corner of the container. Use a flat wide blade screwdriver to remove the fill hole plug.

You pull the big clear thingy off the top and there is a little plastic dipstick with a rubber plug on it. That's where you fill it, and you might even be better off with a large syringe. It is a really small hole and a real bear to fill. If I remember correctly it is the little cylinder looking thing at the left front of the unit in this picture:

After you are done filling, run the tabs up and down a few times to get the air out . . .

Edit: Sorry for the Dupe RP . . . He's right about the screw, very easy to over tighten . . .

Who knew owning a boat was soooooo much fun ;)

Had it on the water 1hr since I got it a few weeks ago and already replaced the throttle/shifter control (which I still need to rewire apparently) and now I have to figure out how to get fluid back in this POS container LOL
