Ok, try not to laugh....but I can't find the shift linkage disconnect on an old 7.5 HP Evinrude.
I managed to to remove to remove the motor from the transom clamp assembly with one flathead screw removed!

This is no laughing matter - lol. You have to remove the powerhead. There are 6 or 7 bolts holding it on. One is cleverly hidden by the exhaust cover on the back of the exhaust tower.

That looks like a 1955. Model 7518 or 7519.

Look on the side just below or in line with the bottom of the transom bracket for a cover with two screws.

If that is indeed a 1955 Evinrude 7.5 hp it does not have a shift disconnect window. However, removing the powerhead is easy. Don't let it scare you. Once you get it off, check the lower powerhead seal and change the impeller.

Post the model number. I may have a pdf copy of the parts manual for this engine. Send me your email address via PM and I'll sent it to you tonight.

Powerhead was a breeze to remove....all I needed was a flat head screwdriver. None of the bolts were frozen and it took all of 5 minutes.
Thanks for the help!
