my fishing partner bought a 1991 stratos with a 60hp johnson. neither of us has ever had a boat of this size and never had to maintain one. his neighbor showed him how to "fog" the engine at the end of last year and we believe this is the source of his problem. the entire engine is now covered in a oilly substance and has migrated all over. the trim worked ok the first time out but the became intermitant going up and down. we unplugged trim relays and cleaned the oil that was all over male connections. we tried many things to clean the female side on the engine but not much fits in these tiny slots. he got some out with a razor blade and its almost like sludge coming out. he sprayed wd-40 in there hoping to break it up. he called me tonight and now it will not work at all and he can not clean anymore out. is there anything he can do or spray. we are very confused and obviously don't want to ask his dopey neighbor for advise. thank you for your time it is greatly appreciated.
